How a Horse Loving Country Girl Became a Trust & Estates Practice Manager

If you had told my younger self that one day I’d spend my weekdays managing trusts, estates, probate matters, and legal deadlines, I probably would have laughed.

Back then, my world revolved around horses.

I grew up with dirt on my boots, hay in my hair, and most weekends spent at horse shows. My sister and I didn’t have the most expensive horses or the fanciest equipment, but we believed in hard work. We did most of the training ourselves. Our mother mainly made sure we survived, often reminding us, “You two don’t listen to anything I say anyway, so why waste my time?”

We celebrated every small victory our horses gave us and learned early that success comes from consistency—not shortcuts.

What I didn’t realize at the time was that those years were teaching me lessons I’d carry for the rest of my life.

Horses taught me patience. They taught me discipline. They taught me how to stay calm under pressure and that body language often speaks louder than words.

As life unfolded, another path began to take shape.

I discovered that I enjoyed organization, problem solving, creating systems, and helping people navigate complicated situations. Those strengths eventually led me into the legal field, where I now serve as a Trust & Estates Practice Manager.

On paper, horses and estate administration don’t seem to have much in common. But to me, they share more similarities than most people realize.

Both require patience. Both demand preparation. Both depend on trust. And both remind me that respect matters.

Today, my weekdays are filled with client meetings, legal documents, deadlines, and helping families through some of life’s most significant transitions. Then the workday ends, I head home, change out of my office clothes, grab Scooby, and step outside—where muddy boots, horses, and dreams of a simpler life are waiting.

I live on the edge of the city: close enough to build the career I’ve worked hard for, yet never far from the country life that fills my soul. Some days, balancing those worlds feels effortless. Other days, it’s a challenge. But I’ve learned that life doesn’t have to fit neatly into a single box.

Have you ever felt like your heart belongs in two different worlds?

You don’t have to choose between ambition and simplicity. You can build a meaningful career and still crave open pastures. You can embrace modern conveniences while dreaming about fresh eggs, garden rows, and evenings spent in the barn.

The life I’m creating exists where legal files meet fence posts. Where calendars and checklists coexist with horses, dogs, and homesteading dreams. Where a horse-loving country girl discovered she could build a career she loves without leaving behind the life that shaped her.

I’m still figuring out how to live fully in both worlds. But if you’re reading this and feel pulled in different directions too, maybe we’re not so different after all.

Maybe the best life isn’t about choosing one world over another.

Maybe it’s about creating a life where both belong.
